Lil’ City Big Dreams is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mentorship to the underprivileged and underserved youth in our community through sports instruction.

Black Brick Wall Background

Lil’ City Big Dreams started as a conversation amongst coaches and their families about wanting to provide a bigger stage for the youth in our community, many of who lacked the resources to do so. Coaches along with their wives and families, rallied together and hosted various fundraisers weekend after weekend. After a few months, we were able to pay the registration cost, hotel and travel fees for most families, food, and activities for an entire weekend to attend a flag football tournament approximately three (3) hours from home. We did not charge the children or their families anything to participate. We realized there was a need for at-risk youth to participate in sports year-round, prevent them falling into bad habits, and provide healthy outlets. We firmly believe that all kids, regardless of their parent’s economic status, should be able to participate in sports outside of just their community and without a financial burden to their families. Many children have talent that should be showcased for the world, but have never been outside of Williamsport. Thankfully, we are able to provide this to the youth in our community when we have the available funds. Our goal is to provide a safe place for kids to create long lasting memories, provide mentorship, instruction, and teach the children life lessons while playing a sport they love.

Youth learn through modeling

A substantial number of studies have shown us that humans learn through modeling others. As these experiences accumulate through adolescence, teens decide what socially acceptable behavior is and what is not. They also learn strategies for achieving their goals.

The Plan

Lil’ City Big Dreams thinks of the youth before making any important decision that impacts our program. This also means selecting volunteers and coaches who want the best for the youth in our community and represent our program well. Our program chooses to be selective in who we bring on because we know that positive role models have a substantial impact on the youth and how they conduct themselves even outside of our program. We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, etc. and encourage those from ALL walks to become a positive influence to the youth.
